God's Wonderful Love
Monday March 24, 2008
And they went out quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy, running to tell his disciples. And behold Jesus met them, saying: All hail. But they came up and took hold of his feet, and adored him. Then Jesus said to them: Fear not. Go, tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, there they shall see me. Who when they were departed, behold some of the guards came into the city, and told the chief priests all things that had been done. And they being assembled together with the ancients, taking counsel, gave a great sum of money to the soldiers, Saying: Say you, His disciples came by night, and stole him away when we were asleep. And if the governor shall hear this, we will persuade him, and secure you. So they taking the money, did as they were taught: and this word was spread abroad among the Jews even unto this day. Matthew 28:8-15 (Douay-Rheims Bible)
Prayer Reflection
Dear Father the women who met up with Jesus knew him instantly when they saw him. How glorious a day that was for them. And for us too, when we encounter our risen Lord in the Eucharist. But now we see money is also changing hands to stop the truth from coming out. And instead lies are to be spread. Do we often wonder how come we hear so many things in our day and find out they are not correct. After awhile the truth is revealed. Look at all the time that has passed since all this has happened and how the truth keeps coming to light. The truth amazingly is the correct way, where lies are nothing but darkness. Corruption was happening in Jesus' time and continues today, but do we want the truth or lies. Will truth be what wins the day and will the light of Jesus shine bright in our hearts when we also encounter the Risen Lord in the Eucharist.

While I was doing the reflections for the stations of the cross, the words "I can only imagine" came across several times and also the day before. For some reason the Holy Spirit has it's purpose in this regard. When I went in search of the lyrics I came across this youtube video of a father and son. I cried watching this as I thought how very much Jesus is right there too. I can only imagine in the very depths of my heart the suffering he went to save us. Those four words, I can only imagine, spoke volumes. Now on Holy Saturday, one can only imagine the depths he has gone for us as he lies in the darkness awaiting the morning light. When watching the video, think about how Jesus is the Father and we are the marginalized one. In actuality we truly are this way and it takes Jesus to push us, to carry us, to hold us close as we journey in our life. I can only imagine the depths of love he has for us to go to such lengths

The Fourteenth Station of the Cross
Reflection: Jesus is laid in the tomb. It all seems so final now. You are no longer among us as a mere mortal in the flesh, blood, skin and bones. You are placed in a tomb as a final resting place to the life of witnessing for your Father's love for us. Many die and are placed away from us as you have been. Only thing different, you will be back to conquer the hardened hearts of the people. So many of us die, but many die in sin and will not find eternal rest. Why do we hold onto so much of this world when it is you that truly gives us life. You gave us your body and blood in this sacrifice and we have so many opportunities to be united to you, and partake of the banquet you left us to imitate. You are the Lamb that was sacrificed and by your blood you have washed us clean. We hope that in this day we will truly see how deeply you love us and how much you want us with you. Prayer: Please say an Our Father and Glory Be

The Thirteenth Station of the Cross
Reflection: Jesus is taken down from the Cross. So much has happened this day and now they are removing your body from the wooden cross. A place that brought shame and suffering to you dear Jesus. Now you are being placed in the arms of your mother, who stood at the foot of the very cross they took you from. She stood by you throughout your whole ordeal and suffered with you. When they lanced your side she too felt the pain as well as the nails that went through your skin. Her anguish and love for you is immortalized for all time and eternity as your perpetual witness. She would go to the ends of the world to cease the suffering you endured. O Jesus, our beloved, who for all time has taken our suffering and sin and died to redeem us. And all we do to repay this act of love and forgiveness is to continue as if you didn't exist. What a pity for us then.
Prayer: Please say an Our Father and Glory Be
