Jesus said to his disciples:"If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone.If he listens to you, you have won over your brother.If he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, so that every fact may be established on the testimony of two or three witnesses.If he refuses to listen to them, tell the Church.If he refuses to listen even to the Church,then treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector.Amen, I say to you,whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven,and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.Again, amen, I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father.For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." Reflection:
It's sad that today when we are confronted with our faults and failures, we refuse to listen to those who come to us, to help us see the error of our ways. In today's Gospel reading Jesus tells us to do exactly this with one another. Then he tells us to go to the next step, and that would be to the Church.
My family did this when I refused to see what another was causing me. They went to have prayers said on my behalf. They loved me enough to have many, many prayers said by those in prayer groups, or have Masses said. They went as Jesus asked of us, to go to the Church.
Many have done this too in situations that seemed as if no one is listening, and found prayers answered. So in today's Gospel when Jesus also says, where two or three are gathered together in his name, there he shall be among them.
It is not difficult to understand, what Jesus tells us about prayer for those who do not listen when we reach out to help them see their errors. How when we agree on prayer for help the Father will answer. It's just very sad when instead of praying for those who need help we sweep it under the proverbial rug, hoping the problem would soon disappear. That is when God brings it to light to reveal where we err.

A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. Revelation 12:1
Reflection:
On this day we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We read in Revelation the account of "A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun..." This has been happening through the years, the appearance of Our Lady to those who are chosen to be her witnesses. But this is also, God's proof to us that Our Blessed Mother is in Heaven.
Since there is no account of her death, we have assumed she was taken to heaven directly upon the end of her earthly service. And God chose to let us have Her presence, so we may come to know her Son and His presence.
She comes to us to help us, to nurture our faith. So we may believe in the one who made us. To warn us of our ways, to repent. She does not come to us to see us continue to do wrong. What mother on earth would like this from their own children? To see them continue to do evil. Mother's who love their children want the best for them. It is only an uncaring, selfish mother that would rather see her child err. There are not many out there who are like this, who seek their own satisfaction, rather than the good of their own flesh.
Our Heavenly Mother, loves all of us and seeks to have us all part of her family. Somehow I'm reminded of times when my own Mom would stay the hand of my Father, for some thing that I did that needed punishment. Our Heavenly Mother does this for us too. Just think of the times when we rightly deserve to kneel in a corner or a just punishment from our Heavenly Father for our wickedness. Those are the times Our Heavenly Mother cries all the more.
But we as mortal people try not to hurt our own earthly mothers, or get punishment from our fathers. So how come we do all that is possible to get punishment from our Heavenly Father. Our Heavenly Mother can only hold back his hand so long, without us being pampered and thinking we never do wrong. It's time we start heeding our Heavenly Mother and listening to Her Son.

God's Teaching
The Jews murmured about Jesus because he said,"I am the bread that came down from heaven,"and they said, "Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph? Do we not know his father and mother? Then how can he say,'I have come down from heaven'?" Jesus answered and said to them,"Stop murmuring among yourselves. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw him, and I will raise him on the last day. It is written in the prophets: They shall all be taught by God. Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me. Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died; this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world." John 6:41-51
Reflection:
This is one Gospel I can relate to. Jesus is the Bread of Life. The biggest shame of all is that not many believe he truly is the Bread of Life and that he is present in the Eucharist.
He isn't just admonishing the Jews in this reading but us too. Don't we also murmur amongst ourselves, how is it possible that Jesus is present in the wafer we call the Eucharist, the Bread of Life. Do we not also murmur if Jesus was real and sent by God.
But all we have to do is look back upon history and the many miracles that have been done in his name, and how he has manifested himself for our belief. How truly blessed you are, when you believe without seeing. It is written in the prophets that they shall all be taught by God. How true the prophets were in saying this. God does teach us when we listen. Look at all the Saints who have gone before us all, how they have listened. We have many who founded the orders we know of today, they listened to God. St. Francis, St. Dominic, St. Augustine are a few who have made a lasting house of the Lord.
Many of us too have come this far, because we have also listened to God. Can many more of us be the one's to also say we too are taught by God. | | | |

Follow Jesus
Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. Matthew 16:24
Reflection:
Where ever we are in life or what ever vocation we are called to, we are to deny ourselves and take up our crosses and follow Jesus.
Many of us follow but do not deny ourselves, but we do carry our crosses. Or vice a versa, we refuse to carry our cross, but we deny ourselves. These are half-hearted measures for sure.
We see so much of these today, when we abort a life, or we take up vices that are not healthy spiritually or bodily. Or we are followers, yet we use drugs as our means of escaping our cross.
But Jesus wants all of us to follow, by denying what we desire, taking our cross the whole way. That includes what others dislike about following Jesus. Yet, following Jesus all the way gives us the greatest peace.
Unfortunately we have developed a world that caters to our desires, and seeks to destroy what Jesus teaches us. Our world wants Jesus and God, but at their terms and not on God's. That's why we see God disappearing from public teaching in schools, to taking an oath on a Bible in a Court of Law. The removal is from those that don't want to be reminded of God's commandments, so they will not have to feel guilty.
This is from those who refuse to deny themselves and refuse to carry their cross. And we who follow let it happen, that God is disappearing from all our lives. | | | |
