God's Wonderful Love

 Do Not Be Ashamed

For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice
but rather of power and love and self-control.
So do not be ashamed of your testimony to our Lord.
2Timothy 1:7-8

Paul exhorts Timothy to not be ashamed of his testimony to the Lord. I was reminded of this myself. When I first saw the Lord on the host, and all that I needed to go through. How people reacted, was to say the least, daunting. I got to the point where I was ashamed to speak about it. And that included my family. When they couldn't wait to walk away. Those were the times I felt as if I was evil. People couldn't wait to leave. And all I could do was smile. As I look back on it now, I was a transformation. I was no longer my self, but a part of God. His impact was so strong, all I could do was eat, breathe, sleep, God. Did it hurt, that people didn't want me near, Yes. I didn't give up, I was filled with so much joy, I wasn't afraid. What I feared was peoples reactions. There was no one who could explain to me what was happening. I had to grow. I am not ashamed of my Love for God. It is only people who cause others to be ashamed. It took me a lot to understand that, and to reveal my deepest sorrow. Just like those who came before us, who have been imprisoned for the sake of the Lord. This was my prison, and I am free. I shout to the world God I Love You for the world knows not your love.

 Armor of God

Ephesians 6:11-17:

"Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

"Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

"Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

"And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

"Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

Today there seems to be alot of paranoia about the devils number. So why not put on the armor of God with faith to conquer those fears.

 A Share

Through these, he has bestowed on us the precious and very great promises, so that through them you may come to share in the divine nature, after escaping from the corruption that is in the world because of evil desire. 2 Peter1:4

Many had followed the Novena of the Holy Spirit to enrich their lives, to grow more holy in order to share in the divine nature. Many seek relief from a world that is showing more evil, day to day. It wasn't just in our time that evil desire is known. It has been known since the first sin. Yet when it is pointed out to us, we hide from it. The virtues of the Spirit enable us to live in a way of truth. To seek what is pleasing to God above all. God's Word tells it like it is. For a book written over 2,000 years ago and then from Jesus, we know how we are. We read of people who are like us, yet our time is worse than then. One great consolation, we have many religions, faiths that believe. And we see the growth in the Church, despite the growing darkness that invades our time.

There is something I am always thankful for, being told when I err, so I may correct where I falter. Because I desire God more than my own desires. Where putting him first in everything is more important than me.

 Pentecost

When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. Acts 2:1-4

What a glorious day that was, to receive the Holy Spirit, visible in tongues of flame. And to proclaim to all in different tongues the truth.

We need to study and learn different languages in order to speak them, or use a mechanical interpreter to understand. Those who were in the upper room did not have what we have, they had far better. They had a gift we should all desire, one of piety and love for God. These past nine days we prayed along with those who came before us, so we too may receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Where we can proclaim perfection in holiness from the indwelling of the Spirit of Truth.

When the Holy Spirit is with us in truth we understand the ways of God. The desires of his heart. We then live the fruits of the Spirit without grumbling about our circumstances in life.

It is a shame that more run from the Spirit of Truth, than to him. The Word of God comes alive when we understand. It is in this, that we truly are free. It is a freedom without fear, without worry.

In our world today we have too many worries, too many fears. We are driven by evil, not by the Spirit of God. We are slowly suffocating ourselves with too much worldly goods and not enough of what God gives. When we choose to live the way of the world we choose to live away from the Spirit of Truth, we have chosen our desires and not the desires of God.

Can we change? Yes. But, do we want to is the question.

 Novena to the Holy Spirit

Day 9

Thou, on those who evermore Thee confess and Thee Adore, in Thy sevenfold gift, Descend; Give Them Comfort when they die; Give them Life with Thee on high; Give them joys which never end. Amen

The Fruits of the Holy Spirit

The gifts of the Holy Spirit perfect the supernatural virtues by enabling us to practice them with greater docility to divine inspiration. As we grow in the knowledge and love of God under the direction of the Holy Spirit, our service becomes more sincere and generous, the practice of virtue more perfect. Such acts of virtue leave the heart filled with joy and consolation and are known as Fruits of the Holy Spirit. These Fruits in turn render the practice of virtue more attractive and become a powerful incentive for still greater efforts in the service of God, to serve Whom is to reign.

Prayer

Come, O Divine Spirit, fill my heart with Thy heavenly fruits, Thy charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, faith, mildness, and temperance, that I may never weary in the service of God, but by continued faithful submission to Thy inspiration may merit to be united eternally with Thee in the love of the Father and the Son. Amen.

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death. Amen.

Say the Glory Be seven times:

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.

ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

On my knees I before the great multitude of heavenly witnesses I offer myself, soul and body to You, Eternal Spirit of God. I adore the brightness of Your purity, the unerring keenness of Your justice, and the might of Your love. You are the Strength and Light of my soul. In You I live and move and am. I desire never to grieve You by unfaithfulness to grace and I pray with all my heart to be kept from the smallest sin against You. Mercifully guard my every thought and grant that I may always watch for Your light, and listen to Your voice, and follow Your gracious inspirations. I cling to You and give myself to You and ask You, by Your compassion to watch over me in my weakness. Holding the pierced Feet of Jesus and looking at His Five Wounds, and trusting in His Precious Blood and adoring His opened Side and stricken Heart, I implore You, Adorable Spirit, Helper of my infirmity, to keep me in Your grace that I may never sin against You. Give me grace O Holy Spirit, Spirit of the Father and the Son to say to You always and everywhere, "Speak Lord for Your servant heareth."

Amen.

PRAYER FOR THE SEVEN GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

O Lord Jesus Christ Who, before ascending into heaven did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me that He may perfect in my soul, the work of Your grace and Your love.

Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal, the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Your divine truth, the Spirit of Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining heaven, the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with You and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation, the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints, the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable, and the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God and may dread in any way to displease Him.

Mark me, dear Lord with the sign of Your true disciples, and animate me in all things with Your Spirit.

Amen
