God's Wonderful Love
Friday May 30, 2008
16 Go out of the ark, thou and thy wife, thy sons, and the wives of thy sons with thee. 17 All living things that are with thee of all flesh, as well in fowls as in beasts, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, bring out with thee, and go ye upon the earth: increase and multiply upon it. 18 So Noe went out, he and his sons: his wife, and the wives of his sons with him. 19 And all living things, and cattle, and creeping things that creep upon the earth, according to their kinds, went out of the ark. 20 And Noe built an altar unto the Lord: and taking of all cattle and fowls that were clean, offered holocausts upon the altar.
21 And the Lord smelled a sweet savour, and said: I will no more curse the earth for the sake of man: for the imagination and thought of man's heart are prone to evil from his youth: therefore I will no more destroy every living soul as I have done. 22 All the days of the earth, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, night and day, shall not cease
1 And God blessed Noe and his sons. And he said to them: Increase and multiply, and fill the earth. 2 And let the fear and dread of you be upon all the beasts of the earth, and upon all the fowls of the air, and all that move upon the earth: all the fishes of the sea are delivered into your hand. 3 And every thing that moveth and liveth shall be meat for you: even as the green herbs have I delivered them all to you: Genesis 8:16-22, 9:1-3
Some may never know what it is like to lose what they have and start over. Others have had to start over due to what we term disasters and then we have those who start over out of economic disaster. There are so many ways to lose what we have and then to start over. Some of it is due to ourselves and how we manage what we have been given to care for. We are all guardians of this earth, but do we manage it rightly. Do we offer our sacrifices up to God in thankfulness for the many blessings he bestowed on us. Sacrifices in a way that means doing without something we want. There is so much in our lives that we can give it up as a sacrifice. Living simply is often the best way to live. Look at all the happenings around the world where natural disasters happen and the many that aren't. Doesn't that remind us that material things can so easily be gone, and easily replaced while life cannot. But it's the call to start over to renew our faith in God and offer up our blessings. To renew with him the bond of love. To offer our prayers in thanksgiving. Will it take a disaster in our lives to bring home the message to offer up our daily sacrifices to God. To simplify a cluttered life that blots out God. Those disasters often show us how we are to serve each other and yet we fail to even do this.

6 And after that forty days were passed, Noe, opening the window of the ark which he had made, sent forth a raven: 7 Which went forth and did not return, till the waters were dried up upon the earth. 8 He sent forth also a dove after him, to see if the waters had now ceased upon the face of the earth. 9 But she, not finding where her foot might rest, returned to him into the ark: for the waters were upon the whole earth: and he put forth his hand, and caught her, and brought her into the ark. 10 And having waited yet seven other days, he again sent forth the dove out of the ark.
11 And she came to him in the evening, carrying a bough of an olive tree, with green leaves, in her mouth. Noe therefore understood that the waters were ceased upon the earth. 12 And he stayed yet other seven days: and he sent forth the dove, which returned not any more unto him. 13 Therefore in the six hundredth and first year, the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were lessened upon the earth, and Noe opening the covering of the ark, looked, and saw that the face of the earth was dried. 14 In the second month, the seven and twentieth day of the month, the earth was dried. 15 And God spoke to Noe, saying: Genesis 8:6-15
I've always loved the part about the dove and the olive branch. Even when it's similarity is mentioned in the New Testament. It's symbolic of peace isn't it. This was quite a wonderful way of God letting Noah know peace shall prevail upon the face of the earth. The dove could have returned with any type of branch as there were other types of trees in the area as well. From this point on we have associated the olive branch with peace. It's symbolism we see in many places to give us hope of the future, that of peace. The dove could have done as the raven and went on it's way, but brought a significant branch to mark the future. Take a look at the many areas that the symbolic branch is placed. In our governments, in the armed services to name a few. Why did these places use the symbolic branch of peace as part of their emblems or seals. As a way of saying they are to promote peace in their endeavors. The olive branch, the symbol of peace starting from the days of Noah. A symbol many of us forget to realize the truth that it is God's symbol for us to live in peace with one another.

21 And all flesh was destroyed that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beasts, and of all creeping things that creep upon the earth: and all men. 22 And all things wherein there is the breath of life on the earth, died. 23 And he destroyed all the substance that was upon the earth, from man even to beast, and the creeping things and fowls of the air: and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noe only remained, and they that were with him in the ark. 24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days. 1 And God remembered Noe, and all the living creatures, and all the cattle which were with him in the ark, and brought a wind upon the earth, and the waters were abated. 2 The fountains also of the deep, and the flood gates of heaven were shut up, and the rain from heaven was restrained. 3 And the waters returned from off the earth going and coming: and they began to be abated after a hundred and fifty days. 4 And the ark rested in the seventh month, the seven and twentieth day of the month, upon the mountains of Armenia. 5 And the waters were going and decreasing until the tenth month: for in the tenth month, the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains appeared. Genesis 7:21-24, 8:1-5
Quite interesting that so very early in the history of earth we have months and days listed as a point of reference to when certain things happened. The flood did happen and it rained upon the earth to wipe out a race of human and animal species that was incompatible to what we know of our own life likeness. Many today know what it's like to have their homes flooded by a rising river or a hurricane slaming against the shore homes. But none of us will ever know how much God suffered when he did this. We are given many examples and different things in our lives to help us stay on track with him. Sometimes people die needlessly because an area is hit with what we call natural disasters. Well in Noah's time it was one of major proportion. He was told to prepare for it. To safeguard life of his family and the life of what animals we know of today. We too are given notice in our time, but since we tend to follow the way of wickedness rather than the way of God, many are caught unawares and lose their life. What should we be doing to keep ourselves prepared or should I say vigilant for disasters. Do we prepare our hearts to do God's will at all times. Do we pray daily or just when we feel like it. Remember Noah was told to prepare, aren't we told the same by Jesus.

11 In the six hundredth year of the life of Noe, in the second month, in the seventeenth day of the month, all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the flood gates of heaven were opened: 12 And the rain fell upon the earth forty days and forty nights. 13 In the selfsame day Noe, and Sem, and Cham, and Japheth his sons: his wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, went into the ark: 14 They and every beast according to its kind, and all the cattle in their kind, and every thing that moveth upon the earth according to its kind, and every fowl according to its kind, all birds, and all that fly, 15 Went in to Noe into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein was the breath of life.
16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in on the outside. 17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth, and the waters increased, and lifted up the ark on high from the earth. 18 For they overflowed exceedingly: and filled all on the face of the earth: and the ark was carried upon the waters. 19 And the waters prevailed beyond measure upon the earth: and all the high mountains under the whole heaven were covered. 20 The water was fifteen cubits higher than the mountains which it covered. Genesis 7:11-20
The breath of life, the existence of all that lives and breathes. Noah filled the ark with his family and pairs of creatures that are living. The ark truly did hold the breath of life within it. God made all living creatures with the breath of life as he did with Adam. He breathed life into him as he did with all living animals. We all know what happens when we stop breathing, don't we. We no longer live. Every function in our body relies on the very breath of life as much as every beat of our heart. Life is God's greatest treasure, but we damaged that body in the early days of the beginning of time. He removed the cancer that spread by drowning the very life of evil. To preserve the rest of the body before it took over. We too try to preserve life in this way when cancer begins to eat up the body. We try to remove it by drowning it in radioactive beams or treatments. We mirror so much from the beginning of time. Only difference our mentality has taken a bent on how life is. So many remove the life within them, the breath of life itself. Yet we attempt to save our own lives at all costs, but fail to save the unborn life inside. We truly have become backward in this. Life to God is very precious, how it must have hurt him to wipe out the giants that were eating up the life that we now know is ours. But it must hurt him so much more when we do it to ourselves and our neighbors. He fine tuned us by saving the very best when he chose the breath of life in the ark.

21 Thou shalt take unto thee of all food that may be eaten, and thou shalt lay it up with thee: and it shall be food for thee and them. 22 And Noe did all things which God commanded him
1 And the Lord said to him: Go in thou and all thy house into the ark: for thee I have seen just before me in this generation. 2 Of all clean beasts take seven and seven, the male and the female. 3 But of the beasts that are unclean two and two, the male and the female. Of the fowls also of the air seven and seven, the male and the female: that seed may be saved upon the face of the whole earth. 4 For yet a while, and after seven days, I will rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and I will destroy every substance that I have made, from the face of the earth. 5 And Noe did all things which the Lord had commanded him.
6 And he was six hundred years old, when the waters of the flood overflowed the earth. 7 And Noe went in and his sons, his wife and the wives of his sons with him into the ark, because of the waters of the flood. 8 And of beasts clean and unclean, and of fowls, and of every thing that moveth upon the earth,9 Two and two went in to Noe into the ark, male and female, as the Lord had commanded Noe. 10 And after the seven days were passed, the waters of the flood overflowed the earth. Genesis 6:21-22,7:1-10
"That seed may be saved upon the face of the whole earth." Seed, that which will allow new growth of plant, animal and human. The source that brings life. Without it would mean death. God commanded Noah to pair the animals to continue their line. He paired male and female for the seed within bears growth of a life. We see in our time how married couples who are barren, because of a dysfuntion of their seed production cannot produce a child. Where life will continue to live on. Why are we destroying what God saved to restore harmony in the world. We may never know what depravity was committed for God to destroy what he lovingly created, but if we look at our world today and witness the depravity we are causing. Would it not be said the same of us if he chose to wipe us out too, because we didn't listen to the warnings to change. They say animals are stubborn, what does that say about us then when we refuse to correct our ways. We mend broken things on a day to day basis, why can't we fix the errors we are committing.
