God's Wonderful Love
Wednesday May 3, 2006
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me John 14:10-11
How much more easier it is to believe that someone is possessed of evil spirits than believing that Jesus and God are one in each other. How it is so much more easier to believe in lies that people spread than to not listen to gossip. Since the beginning of time we have done everything possible to not believe in the Divine. We have been given so many signs already through the ages it's not funny. Jesus has given us where he will always be, he let us know to go to him and through him for everything. He has let us know that, we see Jesus we see the Father. He spoke so plainly yet we still don't get it.
There are many things that we go and do today for others to believe. How come we don't try that hard to see the truth. There are many who seek signs, and many who long to believe with proof. Jesus gave us the proof by his Resurrection, he appeared to many people as well as the apostles. The bread we have today has been guided through the years for us to see with eyes of faith. It's no accident that instead of a loaf of bread we were allowed to make it in a way that gave greater distribution.
With all that Jesus went through , then to come back and show us. Tells me we have a God who is Love in the deepest sense of the word. No one would do what he did or ever do for love of a human race that strives so hard to erase God from their lives.

So they said to Jesus, “Sir, give us this bread always.” Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.” John 6:34-35 I believe! Do you? There is a Priest that comes to my Parish to fill in when Father is on vacation. He says something that is very true, not everyone believes that Jesus is in the bread (Eucharist). And how none of us are truly worthy of receiving Him. Thats pretty sad, when we think about it. How often we go to receive Him with thoughts of other things on our minds. For example, are we sizing up the person in front of us, or is our gaze focused on the cross. Have we gone to confession to empty our hearts of impurities before hand. In today's reading Jesus reveals who he is and where we will always find him. When we believe in this we will no longer thirst. The thirst that we tend to go everywhere else to find, the source of happiness and peace. We search by way of others and through the many religions out there, yet never being satisfied, until we come to believe that yes, here is truly the bread of life as Jesus long ago had stated. The Eucharist is where he has given us Him always. I didn't need to see to believe this, I knew he has always been in this most precious place for a long time.

“Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for me not because you saw signs but because you ate the loaves and were filled. Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. John 6:26-27 Amazingly, we do just that today. Jesus mentioned to the people who went looking for him, it is not because of the signs they saw, but because he filled them with the bread. The source of fulfillment. Today are we also looking for signs because they are given, or are we seeking fulfillment with the bread, the food that endures for eternal life? We will always find Jesus present in the Eucharist, where his Risen Body is. Jesus was telling them that day, to work for eternal life, where we will always flourish. It is hard work to follow Jesus, harder than any job we will ever have, a job that has lifetime benefits, eternal reward. Imagine working our way up the ladder of success, we could become CEO's of God's kingdom. Since God is the owner, we could strive to be president of this heavenly job. Sounds too good to be true, maybe so, it's worth trying for if you ask me. All applicants will be considered for the position, no one will be turned down.

My children, I am writing this to you so that you may not commit sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous one. He is expiation for our sins, and not for our sins only but for those of the whole world. The way we may be sure that we know him is to keep his commandments. Those who say, (I know him, ( but do not keep his commandments are liars, and the truth is not in them. But whoever keeps his word, the love of God is truly perfected in him. 1 John 2:1-5a
Why is it brought to light the sins of those who serve the Lord? For what purpose and by whose hand has it come to light. Has the Holy Spirit brought the evilness to light to cleanse and make known what has been broken in order to mend it. The Commandments are for all who live. There are many who serve the Church as Lay people, who commit acts against God's commandments too. Jesus came to save us from ourselves. After all aren't we the one's who lie to ourselves the most, with the thought that no one will know the truth. None of us are perfect, we lie so much it's second nature. Who are we trying to protect ourselves from? Our neighbor, for fear that they will judge us for our sins. I went through this myself, fear of being judged by others because of my sins, when the one I need to worry about is God's wrath and no one elses. It's so easy to lie to ourselves to cover our own misdeeds. If it happened to me it happens to many out there. So I always point the finger in my direction first in order to yank out the plank within my own eye. Never to judge another. God Bless

whereas we shall devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word. Acts 6:4 Saint Catherine of Siena is a good example of these words too. She devoted her life to prayer and to the ministry of God's word. Raymond, her spiritual director, wrote about her and this work:
"So about two years before her death, such a clarity of Truth was revealed to her from heaven that Catherine was constrained to spread it abroad by means of writing, asking secretaries to stand ready to take down whatever came from her mouth as soon as they noticed that she had gone into ecstasy. Thus in a short time was composed a book that contains a dialogue between a soul who asks the Lord four questions, and the Lord himself who replies to the soul, enlightening her with many useful truths."
Catherine's life is a concrete example of the Dominican vocation of prayerful action, for it could be said that she was almost never removed from the state of prayer-and yet she accomplished, in her brief life more than many who live long lives!
The above in Italics is taken from Dominican Central: Saints and Blessed.
